I cannot think of any reason why not!

I'm straight, and married, and while I'm also not very religious, I ride the fence with this issue, it's funny, you pay money to a government agency for a license (permission if you will) to get married, some religions require permission to divorce along with payment to the same government agency to divorce, while same sex partners can do some things for loved ones after their passing, wills, trusts, etc. which sometimes I truly feel is the root of this issue, I think it should be allowed, by who, who knows, they say govenment and relgion should'nt intertwine, but who's kidding who, right, maybe the religious zealots should stop trying to force prayer back in schools then as well. Oh and I have two children and we're all presbyterians.

Why SHOULDN'T they be permitted? I really do not see how it affects ANYONE else. Gay people marrying won't suddenly make the vows you made to your husband or wife somehow less meaningful. In fact, it has no effect on anyone else at all. Gay people can already adopt, so it's not like prohibiting gay marriage will keep them from forming families... so why not let them enjoy the same legal standing as the rest of us?

I think same sex unions are fine, they deserve to have the same benefits as married people but I think there should be another term used besides marriage. After all the Bible states marriage between a man and a woman.

as long as it is performed by the state and not a religious institution I am alright with it.....I don't think any religion in the world views it as the right thing so it would have to be a government thing......and personally I agree that if the government wants to use the term 'marriage' for legal reasons, so be it....but as far as my faith is concerned, I don't believe it belongs there cause I believe marriage is meant for a man and a woman.

OMG. im not gona say this more cuz its already been said, but for those of u who say that gay ppl are unnatural....what about acrylic nails? straighteners? hair highlights? extensions? tattoos? earrings...or any piercings really? so if you are really going to sit there and tell me that two people who love each other and would die for each other cant get married, go f*ck urself in a hole...to put it nicely. im not lesbian, but i have a very good friend who's gay and i would hate to see him hurt just because he and his boyfriend couldnt get the same benefits as male/female ppl. besides, in a way its good cuz this planets way overpopulated already. lol . anyways...50 yrs ago it was ppl couldnt marry black person/white person. look where we are now?! no one gives a f*ck!!! grow up and be more mature. not all the world revolves around you and the f*cking bible!!!! anyways......... OXOXOXO, caitlyn

Yes, I believe so - people should have the legal right to express their love to their partner, no matter their sex, through marriage.

You know, I have yet to see any statistics on child welfare of those in same sex marriages. I think it's a little to early to tell what the true outcome of these children will be. That's my main concern. Otherwise, I am all for couples without children of the same sex marrying.

No. No. No. Marriage was made to be between two people, one man and one woman.

Yes. Live your life and let people live their lives the way they want.
The way I see it, as long as you're not harming anyone and no one's harming you, then anything and everything is fine.
I think most people against such things are just stubborn and closed minded. But everyone is allowed an opinon.
However when it comes to love, it's YOUR personal business, therefore no one else should have a say in what you do with your life.
