My husband and I have a family member who is 19 and dating a 41 year old man who has been seriously disrespectful to how the family feels about the relationship. ( we hate it) Are we in the wrong? Do you see a problem with this age gap?

(pardon any spelling errors, I'm holding a baby and trying to type)

he owns a bar and allows her to get drunk. No idea what they have in common. Family has stopped talking to her and has told her he's not welcome at family events. Also, she still lives at home. We hope she'll get tired of him. (fingers crossed). She very easily persuaded. (once again, apologies for the typing. Now I have a dog on my lap)

Even though they dont appreciate who she is with, they cant just remove her from the family tree. They shouldnt exclude her from family events, or tell her that she cant come. She has her right to as i see it. I DEFINITELY see a problem in this age gap, and i just got through answering a question about some guy that was dating a 19 year old when he was 36. But im guessing you know why these old creepy losers go after the young ones, right? Its all they can get! They go after the young and naive, cuz theyre immature and dont get the hint. Geez, id talk to her if i were you. Although i realize that it isnt her fault that some creep has made her feel good about herself, she should still be mature enough to get her head on straight and realize that this guy is more than HALF her age and is old enough to be her father.

I know why he would want a girl of that age, but why would she want him? Is he promising her the moon? But, the rest of the family should stay out of it since there feelings on the subject has been let known to her. She will realize that it wont work on her own, but the more the family harps on her, the more determined she will be to be with him.
