Or do you close the paper tray when not in use to avoid dust?

I am talking about the paper tray where paper is fed into the printer.

If you don't print that often just leave the paper in the original package and just take it out when you are ready to use it. By leaving the paper in the tray it probably won't get much dust on it. Maybe just the first sheet.

We leave paper in it so that we can print when we need to without getting paper everytime and then needing more. It isn't a problem for the rollers, they are protected for the most part. And when the paper is pulled any dust that has settled lifts off, which isn't enough to do any damage unless you've left it there for three months without use.

The paper doesn't have a fighting chance of getting dusty. I print a lot of stuff. Almost daily. Once a week I have to add new paper. Yes. I just leave it there in the tray.

Paper packet that I purchase (with my income) from the office supply store is where I get the paper to fill the Inkjet/Laser Printers in my home.

I leave paper in the feeder, however, I have a set of computer, printer, keyboard covers. Cost about $12 in Office Max and worth it.
