It's lovely, old and classy, but I agree with those who suggest you spell it the customary way, Yvette.

I like the name Ivette, my mother's name is Ivette. I think it refers to Eve. It could also mean "The Beautiful Lady".
Addition: I asked my mother how she writes her name, and she told me that it was Yvette.

I love the name. I would spell it Evette, though.

Ivette is the spanish form of Yvette, which is the french form of Yves, which is derived from Germanic iv meaning "yew". This was the name of a 14th-century saint from France.

very pretty name!

I honestly never heard the name before and is it Evette or Ivette?
I think it looks like corvette. I don't know if I like it or not? If you like it then that is all that matters because other people will become to like it and hear of it if they don't already.

Just wanted to point out that it doesn't make sense to add "for a baby" if you are going to pick a name. Let's hope that the baby in question will grow up to be a woman in the end.

The accepted spelling is: Yvette. It is a French name and a feminization of the masculine "Yves".

I like how it sounds, but I don't like the spelling. I would recommend the traditional French spelling Yvette. Otherwise, it looks like a misspelling.

Ivette will have to correct people on how to PRONOUNCE her name and how to SPELL it. Give the kid a break!

Give a child ta name hat is easy to pronounce and easy to spell. And remember, he/she will probably be a 70 year old some day. Can you imagine GRAMMA TIFFANY or GRANPA DOOGIE?
Know how to spell the name too, instead of those idiots who name their son ANTWAN or ANTWON because they don't know how to spell ANTOINE.
