So my daughter has some bacteria in her eye and the doctor prescribed some eyedrops. So how do I put them in her eyes? Can I just drop it in the corner when her eye is open or do I have to hold her eye open? I'm also to start giving her saline nose drops, poor baby. Thanks!

I am a Neonatal ICU nurse. You need to open your baby's eye (as if you were putting in a contact). Drop into the inner corner of the eye. Allow the eyelid to close. If the infant's eye is closed, it is less likely to disperse properly.
We put drops in eyes frequently!

Put the eyedrops in the corner of the eye. Do not worry about holding eyes open. Make sure the eyedropper never touches anything but the medicine or gets too close to the eye.

My doctor told me that it was ok to let the drops go in the inner corner of the eye closed or shut and let the medicine work its way to the eye. I even do it that way on myself so i know that it works. With a baby it might miss but you can retry and be OK.Best of Luck. It worked for me.

You can put it in the inside corner of her eye, even if it's closed (in fact i think that would be the best time). When she opens her eye, the drop will go in. That's what my mom always did with my little brother because he had constant eye problems.
