I saw this question asked by someone about California. So what are some misconceptions. And why can't Hollywood get our accent right?

Massachusetts was a pain to learn for my spelling test way back when. lol
I love Mass. Home of the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, Cape Cod (not in the summer though) the Berkshire Mountains I could go on and on. Your our neighbors to the North, not far from my home and a great place to visit.
Hollywood never gets any accent dead on, no worries. I have never heard them get a Connecticut accent correct, they think all New Englanders sound the same.

College types think: There's a whole lota colleges there, and Ivy League schools and Walden Pond and other authors from ...
Urbanites think: More good shopping, a clean city, can drive to see fall colors and Wonder what the Jamaicans import...
East coasters think: (On the way to Maine for Camp) I know someone there.
Elderly think: I'd have to spend my winters in Flahhhhhhhrida
In Hollywood they get confused because the natives are saying: Like, I dunno, she's from like, somewhere that starts with M, hmmm... could it be Michigan, Minnesota?, Maryland. Not so sure

They did the right thing. You cant do that advertising without letting people know in this day in age, especially after 9-11.
