Roli's the man! When he is on the top of his game, he is one of the best goalies in the NHL.

In the 2006 playoffs, the opponent actually feared him. They entered each game with the mentality "there is no way we can score on him". He was a machine, a monster, something unhuman. He made saves he had no right making.

Given the fact he has one of the worst defensive cores in the league playing in front of him, he is awesome. He is putting up similiar numbers to Kipprusoff, winner of the Vezina Trophy (best goaltender in the League) and kipper has arguably one of the best defencive groups playing in front of him.

Roloson is just an average goalie in the regular season. But come playoff time, he becomes something else. Roloson is a wolf, and the playoffs are his full moon.

Roli has done a wonderful job keeping the Oilers as contender for the playoffs. He plays well on a consistent basis , and that is what a team needs most of all ; consistency out of their goaltender. However it is sad to say but there are plenty of goaltenders in the NHL who are just as good or better then Rolosson. Lets list them ( Martin Brodeur, Miikka Kiprusoff, Roberto Loungo, Dominik Hasek , Peter Budaj , Cristobal Huet, Tomas Vokoun, Cam Ward) are just some of the young and old who are still keep their teams on top. There is ALOT of TALENT in between the pipes ( sorry if I didn't list your favorite goalie).

While I am a die hard Oilers fan, you have to admit that given the chance to trade Roloson for someone like Brodeur, Kiprusoff or Toskala, you'd jump at the chance. He's great, I love him and I want him to stay on the staff even after he retires (can you imagine a better goalie coach?) but we do need someone who is more consistent.

WELL ILL TEL YOU GUYS ONE THING ROLI IS BETTER THEN Cujo from Phoenix, Mason from the Preds for sure and better then Miller, don't forget Miller has a team in front of him that scores goals he doesnt have to win for the team like Roli does. so i put Roli ahead of Mason, Cujo and Miller hansdown.

Much as I love Roli (which is saying a lot, cause I'm a Flames fan), he's nowhere near the best goalie in the league this season (ahem...Kiprusoff...). It's definitely not his fault that the Oilers are doing so poorly this year, though. They really need to give him some defensive support.

Why do people say Hasek and Emery? Hasek faces possibly the fewest shots in the league, and has lost games (one to Buffalo against Ryan Miller comes to mind) where the Dead Wings outshot the other team and the other team can still pull it out (2-1 Sabres win in my example). Emery, well, luck gets him so far, but when he has needed skill (last year playoffs vs. Buffalo), it hasn't been there.
