PCOS can be diagnosed by an Endocrinologist. Since the ovaries take turns ovulating it is harder to get pregnant. There is help if you see the right doctor.

There are some PCOSers that are thin. My sister is thin and she also has PCOS. Maybe you do have some more symptoms and you just don't realize it. PCOS is a syndrome, not a disease. So the symptoms can vary greatly from person to person. My sisters and I have very different symptoms and some that are the same. Are you moody? Or have wild mood swings? Are you depressed? Do you have alot of skin tags? Is your hair thinning? Do you have darkened, thicken patches of skin like around your neck or under your arms or upper thighs? These are just a few of some of the many symptoms.
Have you been evaluated by a doctor? Have they run any tests?
Yes, women with PCOS can get pregnant!
What I did to get my cycles regular was...
change my diet and exercise more
I eliminated these from my diet:
sugar
white flour
simple carbohydrates
I added lots of veggies and ate fruit, but in smaller quatities and only with a protein. For instance, an apple with peanut butter.
I only eat complex carbohydrates... like whole wheat bread.
But I still limit my carbs.
This has been the best approach for me.
Some PCOSers take metformin. It is an insulin sensitizing medication. This helps even women who are not overweight.
I would suggest you do your own research. You have to be your own health advocate.
I am saying you have PCOS, but it is a possibility.

First and foremost, PCOS is not the end of the world. If treated and managed properly, you have as good of a chance of having a baby as anyone else. I was diagonosed with PCOS at 15. I was put on birthcontrol to regulate my periods. When I wanted to get pregnant, I was taken off of the pill and immediately put on clomid so I would get pregnant as soon as possible - I got pregnant the second month of clomid and now have a perfect little boy.
If you don't have the symptoms of pcos other than the irregular periods, my guess is that you probably don't have it. I suggest you talk to your ob/gyn. He can certainly help diagnose and treat this problem. It could just very well be that you have irregular periods, lots of women do.
There is a pill that the doctor can give you to start your period, after that he can place you on birthcontrol which will regulate your periods. Then when you decide to become pregnant - he will help you from there.
Hope this helps! Best of luck!

i don't know if you have it, and dont know if you have consulted your doc, but i hope you dont. i have it, but i dont have a period at all. the last period i had was in nov. of 04. women with pcos can get pregers, but it is difficult. the obgyn told me that the best way is to get on birth control for a few months and the get off. that would probably be the best way to get prego. see my problem is that i have pcos and hypothyroid and have had all the signs of both, depression, hair growth, acne, weight gain, no period, hot and cold flashes, no sex drive, and my blood sugar levels are also out of whack. if you have any of those symptoms you should definitely ask your doc. i hope i helped even if it was just a little more info on the symptoms.
