I wish I could tell you....but especially with your first it's hard to tell. With my first, I was only 1/2 centimeter and my water broke. With my second, I walked around at 4 centimeters for about 2 weeks, but then when labor finally started, it went really fast.
I will say this though....if you can at all get your mind to "settle down" try to get some sleep...really. When labor does come, it helps to not go into it totally exhausted. Sleeping also makes the time pass more quickly (and really doesn't 'prevent' labor). Good luck!

Your due date was calculated based on an average length menstrual cycle. Delivering two weeks before or two weeks after your due date is considered normal. If this is your first baby, 3 and 50% is good, at least you know that your body is getting ready. Look for contractions that get longer, stronger and closer together over time, your water breaking or losing your mucus plug (sometimes called a bloody show, but should actually only be pinkish mucus discharge in early labor).

everyone is different, i was dilated to a 2 for 2 weeks and still nothing. my baby was 9 days over due before my doctor induced me. just try walking a lot they say that helps...how i don't know. once your contractions are close and regular you can't really tell how long you will go...good luck and hopefully it won't be much longer.

I know personally that being dilated at 3 and 50% effaced doesn't mean you will go soon. Walk and drink lots of fluid. I was 2 wks. late with my daughter and already dilated.

It can be anytime now...or possibly a couple more days (sorry to tell you this). Just be patient and if possible rest...it will be the last that you get of it for quite some time.
Congrats and good luck...you are in for an incredible experience.

my first was 9 days overdue...babies come when they are ready. No REALLY! but if you're getting impatient, try castor oil (you can find it in the supermarket pharmacy) cut with orange juice. It's disgusting, but that will flush the baby out! (especially if you're already that fr dialated)
Good Luck, and Congrats!

they can definatly come past your due date, one of my doctors pinned it when he told me my estemated due date, was actually a estemated month date. With your first baby there is no way of knowing when your baby is comming, just whenever you start getting crampy start walking or have sex (as long as its ok w/ your doctor)
