consider having 18 children?

This woman had to have been pregnant continually (except to wait for conception) for at least 15 years.

It would be like having a family reunion all the time.

Do you have an opinion to having 18 children?

If you did not see it, their pantry is a big as my living room. They had 3 large deep freezes. about five washers and dryers.

And, would you believe, all of their children are home schooled.

It is obvious what one of their favorite pass times is.

Now that is one tough Ma Ma! Course the dad helps to. and the children that are of age help a lot to.

Bubbles; The husband is a car salesmen if you would notice the house they built, I don't think the government if helping.
Also, they have been on TV several times and I don't know if they receive anything from each showing.
With all of their appliances, washer, dryer refig, freezers and etc. thier electric bill each month has to be a whooper by itself.
Hey, if they can aford it why not. Just don't know how he finds time to sell cars though with all the extra s.......................

Lexi, You would be utterly suprised what a good car salesman makes.
I am not one but I do work with them. I know some who make about $150,000 a year.

Are they happy?

...then that's what counts.

I bet there's a lot of love in that household.

They probably do get help from the goverment. Car salesman aren't exaclty top moneymakers.

I think it's pathetic. They operate on a "buddy system". Why should the older children be responsible for the younger children? They should have a childhood. It is the parent's job to parent, NOT the children. What really got me was that the Dad's "buddy" was the Mom. The Dad didn't have to be a "buddy" to anyone.

How can the mom homeschool 18 children? Obviously the children will lack in their education.

$150,000 a year isn't enough to pay for a household of 20.

It was actually 16 kids(but hey, does a couple off really make that much of a difference:P). I feel that if the family can support that many kids, and they are all taken care of and none are neglected and abused, the parents are happy, and the kids are relatively happy(we know kids aren't happy ALL the time), than go for it. They seemed like they had it all together, and all the kids seem very intelligent and well-schooled(their oldest narrated one of the shows, the one where they were building their new house, and he was VERY well spoken for a teen), and all were happy. I'm glad they can make it work, and are so blissful in their situation. Best wishes and good hopes to that family:)

Actually Baba, from all the interviews of this family that I've seen, the woman did actually state that she wants as many kids as she can have.

The family is a religious family(not sure what denomination), so I would imagine they are also receiving help from which ever church/community they are a part of.

Yes today you would certainly ask this question but in the olden days when there was no family planning techniques and they getting married immediately after puberty i.e at the age of 12 or 13 they naturally have sex which is part and parcel of life like eating and sleeping and since women till 35 or 40 is in child bearing age naturally conception takes place and this easily results in getting 18 children or more if she delivers twins or triplets etc. But today because we have means to stop pregnancy and also opting for late marriages results in having less children and we just cannot imagine this equation. Oh the times have changed.

I see that this couple has real concern about population control! With all the mouths to feed in this world and we as a human race are doing terrible to feed them all... whats a few more to feed!

This obviously sends a clear message to China which has been punishing people for having more than 2 kids and we throw this in their faces! So sad....

It is not for me, but all those kids seemed loving, and they all seemed to get enough loving, and they lookes as though they enjoy thier life and the father works to support them, they behave and don't talk back. Some people with 1 or 2 kids can get them to help out around the house or respect them so they are doing something right. But I couldn't do it!! NO WAY

Actually I would like to know how they are being supported. Is the father making an income that can support them or is the public paying the bills. I would consider having that many children, if i could adopt at least 13 of them, I would also have to be able to support them without government help.

Haven't they heard of BIRTH CONTROL. Jeez. It is wrong to have that many children. It is a selfish thing to do. The world is already overpopulated. A lot of people can't take care of one child.

I don't believe any family should have more than 2 children. That would maintain the population and not increase it. I also don't believe it is fair to each child to have 17 siblings. How can the parents give each child the proper attention they need? How can they afford college?

In this day and age we have birth control and we USE it. That woman did not say to herself: "hey, why don't I crank out 18 wailing mouths to feed..." Something's up; these people are not likely to be your neighbor accross the hall in the condo building where you live. I can't imagine how anyone could afford this.
