You could clean, rearrange your closets, or just hangout online. Reading might help you fall asleep though. Why can't you sleep? Are you on any new medication that could be preventing sleep? Things you eat could be hindering your sleep. You could try some Benadryl or some Tylenol PM. I don't recommend anything more than the normal dose though. If its really been 2 days with no sleep at all...you might need to call the doctor. If you go to long without sleep you can go crazy literally.

Take a shower, drink an AlkaSeltzer, go to bed and listen to some soft music, but don't try to fall asleep. Just read something light and relax. AlkaSeltzer acts as a mild soporific, just enough to let you relax.
I was sleep deprived for 30 years, and I sympathize with you.
When you want to take a break from reading, close your eyes and imagine a great dark cloud drifting into your mind and soaking up all thoughts. Relax legs and arms, individually, let the cloud soak you up.
Don't use alcohol.

Take A VITAMIN B or B COMPLEX – Works every time. 20 min and I am out like a light!
The B vitamins often work together to deliver a number of health benefits to the body. B vitamins have been shown to:
•Bolster metabolism
•Maintain healthy skin and muscle tone
•Enhance immune and nervous system function
•Promote cell growth and division — including that of the red blood cells that help prevent anemia.
Together, they also help combat the symptoms and causes of stress, depression, and cardiovascular disease.
All B vitamins are water soluble, and are dispersed throughout the body. They must be replenished daily with any excess excreted in the urine.
Vitamin B comes from a number of natural sources, including potatoes, bananas, lentils, chili peppers, liver, turkey, and tuna. Nutritional yeast (or brewer's yeast) is an especially good source of Vitamin B. The iconic Australian spread Vegemite bills itself as "One of the worlds richest known sources of vitamin B". As might be expected due to its high content of brewer's yeast, beer is a good source of B vitamins, although this may not be true of filtered beers. In fact, beer is sometimes referred to as "liquid bread".
Another popular means of increasing one's Vitamin B intake is through the use of supplements purchased at supermarkets, health centers, or natural food stores.

Normally I would take Ativan, but I had a found out that I had a paradoxical reaction to tranquilizers so they have the opposite effect on me. It send me into a angry rage instead of making me sleepy. I now take two Benadryl. Its a lot safer and less habit forming anyways. Go for a long walk and clear your mind. Stay off the computer two hours before going to bed.
