Since you live in Alaska, the USDA hardiness maps won't work since they only cover the mainland. You best bet is to use the Canadian zoning developed by Agriculture Canada (Government agency). I have included a link to such a map in the source section. The Northern Canadian territories have about the same climate as Alaska (depending on where in Alaska off course).

Get on the mailing lists of two or three seed or tree company's.
About this time of year,they'll be sending out a bunch of catalogs,and they all have neat little charts of growing zones in them.

Normally on the back of seed packages they have a map of the united stated and regions are sorted by color which would mean climate. Try checking the back of seed packages for the answer.
