I'm an American consultant working in Baghdad. The Al Jazeera English network is surprisingly good. It seems to be fairly well balanced, given its origins. It's at least as balanced as Fox News, anyway. I was also surprised by the (mostly British) well-known on-screen talent they've been able to recruit.
Also, their weather report is second to none.

Aljazeera is mainly Arabic channel. I only see reference of this channel in other Media. It obtained publicity by broadcasting taps of Al-Qaida leaders. I am personally against giving publicity to anti-state elements as it is oxygen for them. This act of media is objectionable.
An independent TV channel in the area is blessing.
