yeh dual core is the best but i dont think that it could be compatible with ur machine and mobo so u should go for 2.8 with HT(hyper threading) it really rox and dont forget to upgrade ur RAM too if its 1 GB u'll enjoy computing with HT processor

if you work for a company, ask the computer support services. they can find the sales person that knows the product line, company offices need to specify that the computer is used for, such as job function or computer application.
Just say: Receptionist, Business Office Manager, Data Entry Clerk, Phone Operator, Sales Person, Facilities Janitor, Teacher Office, Front Lecturer, Generic cube computer for this X-Department.
An analyst that has the computer and application sorted by field. Historically, the original Intel 8086 was a generic processor can be used for desktop purposes, not really 70% accurate for scientific purposes even AutoCAD. Good enough for word processing and spreadsheets, only went up to a certain number 256?

speed is relative. You need to get the newest and most expensive, if you want major power. A 2.8 from 2 years ago is about as good as a 1.5 from today. So get a dual core, either AMD or Intel.
