I went to a Super Bowl party once -- no one watched the game. It was 100% yakkity-yak party and 0% football game. I was appalled, and ever since I just lock myself up at home and barricade the door so that I can actually watch the game without distraction. Is it possible to actually watch and get into the game when there are a lot of people (ie women) milling about the house?

It is funny that you asked this!!! I use to live in a 3 story townhouse. When the Superbowl came around I asked all to bring a dish. My main level had a TV in the kitchen and a small one in the living room. This is where the people that wanted to socialize stayed. I had a sign on the stairs, "Upstairs, basically my bedroom, was for SERIOUS FOOTBALL watchers and you could only talk during the commercials, downstairs were for people that wanted to watch the game, but didn't mind chatter around them and of course, the middle level was where the food was and everyone got together during half time or when they wanted to refill their plates. Of course, I had a pool for a $1.00 a square just to make the game more interesting for all.

I'm with you dude. Not only the Superbowl but to watch any game on TV with idiots around is annoying. The over/ under on somebody saying something stupid is 1 min and 43 seconds into the first quarter.
Super-Bowl parties are the equivalent to New Years Eve. amateur night.
I'd lock yourself up for this game, it is going to be a good one.
I'm doing the same.
enjoy the game

The only thing I hope to see on Super Bowl Sunday is Ed McMahon knocking on my door.

Don't go to parties at girl's houses or single people. Married couples usually have it under control that day.

I avoid it- entirely. It's all a bunch of hype -designed to make a bunch of advertizing Execs- richer. And I can think of better places for my $$$ to go...
