I prefer to sing without a mic, but it is not scary. The thing is, you hear yourself very differently when you are singing into a mic. Did you practice with it? That would make it easier. It is not at all bad once you get used to it. Good luck with your performance!

My best advice is to see how close others stand to the microphone to be able to judge how close you should stand to get the best sound. Standing at a mic can be fun, once you get used to it and understand that the reason you've been asked or selected to stand there is because someone thinks you have something important to say.
Hey, have fun. and remember there's only one first time at the mic, after that you'll be 'experienced' at talking into a mic. Have fun!

Just talk into it like you're talking on a telephone. If you get scared, just look at one person in the audience, and talk to him. You may find that it all comes quite naturally.

Do make certain that you're actually talking into the microphone: again, treat it like a telephone receiver: don't get too far away from it.

You'll find that the audience is on your side. Have fun.

To me, being on a microphone is not the scary part. It's being in front of a bunch of people! Good luck!!!

It's cool. Be sure to talk a little slower than you normally would. If it's a big auditorium, the sound will bounce around. If you talk too fast, you won't be understood.

Not to pressure u, they want entertained. Entertain them. Remember, you want these people to hear you at your best and like you. Your nerves will show through. Do lots of warm ups and please breath. Your not the only one that has ever dealt with this : ) Good luck and I'm sure you'll be fine, just do your best. Remember, you're doing what you love, remember that while you're at the mic. Do it with your heart. I'll wish you luck right now!!!

I have acted and sang previously. It is always scary for me. But true courage is facing your fears. Some people never get used to it. I know I never will. But I still dod it because I enjoy it.

Its not too bad. Its not as bad as you think it will be. Just concetrate on what you are say or sing (not sure which) and don't worry too much. It'll be fine :)
