Given that there is no disturbance to it, or its roots, I guess it could live forever. They are very hardy once they get going, but of course, must be in the right place, no frost , not too wet, etc. Here in South Australia, there must be many in the older gardens that are around 100 years old.and even older. They prefer to be more or less neglected, just leave em alone and they'll do fine.
