The American Government with the help of the CIA illegally put the Shah of Iran into power back in 1953. In 1979 the Ayatollah Khomeini took back the country as leader of Iran.

I find it sad that the American Government are so good a creating future problems in this world by creating the problem in the first place like both Iran and Iraq. Don't forget that the Ronald Reagan Administration sold weapons to Saddam Hussein to fight against Iran.

You wonder why Americans get a bad name around the world as it is from corruption in government. Its the same as the British getting sucked into Bush's war and paying for it with terrorist activities against their country because of their involvement in Iraq.

The day will come that the United States are going to go to far and maybe create a nuclear holocaust from thinking they are the global policeman.

hard to say we helped them much they have a bunch of F14's that they cant fly because we wont give them parts. So we made a good bit of cash on the deal but they dont have much to show for it. Overall we are now 3rd in arms sales worldwide because of things like this. Another good example is Venezuela they got a similar deal. So they buy their rifles from Russia. We need to make peace with all these guys and get back into the arms sales gig. Given massive trade deficits with China and overall the world we need to get back into high coin arms deals. I also support Blackwater type companies full of our exmarines etc being hired out to other countries for their wars. I think it would be a great thing for our economy if we get into the mercenary thing. We got no manufacturing base anymore nor do we have skilled labor. We are born to fight. Lets put our God given skills to work. Every kid in america can/should have access to firearms and all the thugs could go do drive bys in Somolia for all I care and pay taxes on what they make.

Yes, the U.S. government has neither given nor sold them anything since the mid 70's. USSR, France, Germany, and Russia are now supporting them.. Russia, for instance just gave (not sold) them a sophisticated missile defense system.
As far as politically, we have not helped them a bit since the Shaw was thrown out.

Russia, China, North Korea. Jimmy Carter urged Saddam Hussein to invade Iran in 1979, Ronald R. sold Iraq weapons to fight against Iran, and now, rightfully sow, we're trying to pass tough sanctions on Iran. If you call that help, then you're pretty masochistic.

Since the Shaw departed, the old Soviet Union provided a great deal of assistance to Iran. France doesn't have clean hands either.

Have you forgotten when the American in Tehran was overrun and the people held captive?
