fuel filter is a common cause of this problem replace the fuel filter.
if problem still occurs you will need to take it to a reputable shop that can read stored problem codes from the PCM.

Shaun C has it right!
The "Check Engine" light is an indication that the car's computer (PCM) has identified a condition that will cause emissions to rise beyond acceptable limits. When the light flashed, it is an indication that the engine is misfiring. This condition will cause raw fuel to enter the catalytic converter. This is destructive to the converter.
The light flashed to get your attention, and to tell you to stop driving the car, or serious damage will result. Converters are very expensive.
If you can't repair your own car, don't drive it any more than absolutely necessary.
Take it to either the dealer or a REPUTABLE repair facility for diagnosis and repair.

Happy motoring

a flashing check engine light usually means there's a condition that could damage the catalytic converter... a missfire. Check wires / plugs also.. I've seen mass air flow sensors go bad on these too. You really need to get codes from it.
