because yahoo! answers set up rules. They had plans that not only do people get to ask questions but also answer them. Could you imagine if people only asked questions and didnt get responses. Yahoo! answers just wouldnt work. So to create a balance you lose points to ask a question. But then if you need to ask another one but need points, you can answer a queston of someone in need.

That is the rules here lol. read your yahoo answers guidelines and point system and how they work.. This explains the points and how you earn and lose them. You also have other guidelines to follow too!

Because it costs you 5 points for every question you ask. When you answer questions you get 2 points, when you choose a best answer for questions you ask, you get 3 points, if you get a best answer for a question you answered, you get 10 points, and for every unresolved question you vote for a best answer on, you get 1 point. Also if your question is voted best answer, for every thumbs up you get you get a point.
