Loestrin 24?

On the websight for loestrin 24 (the pill I am currently taking) it says that if you take it within the first 24 hrs of the first day of your period you are protected from there on out, does anyone who is familiar with this product know if this is a true statement or not?

Most doctors will tell you that you are protected as soon as you start birthcontrol. To be safe I would you extra protection just until you get your period ( one cycle of pills) to be safe
