Diamonds and sapphires are both precious stones. I know that diamonds come from carbon and can come in different colors, and are now popular in white, yellow,black, and all of a sudden pink. They are also almost always found in Africa, and there is a limit onto how many of them are let out onto the market, which is why they are so expensive. To be honest, I'm not sure what the chemical constitutiion of a sapphire is, but it is completely different from a diamond, but it too comes in different colors, but the colors are extremely vibrant. What most people don't even know are that a ruby is a sapphire and some emeralds are sapphires. never been able to figure out why some are and some are not, but I leave that to my jeweler who has tried to explain it to me. It's in the compisition of the stone. Orange Sapphires are the most expensive and they come from Nepal, and are the hardest to find. THey cost more than diamonds usually. The rest of the sapphires are found,I believe in northern part of africa and in that region. truly good jeweler may actually go hunting for their own jewels. A white sapphire would be a sapphire that would be a sapphire with no specific color picked up into it's basic elements. The same thing is possible with Turquoise, as a mine is mined out you find white turquoise, it has the elements of turquoise, but no color.

Diamonds are made from carbon, sapphires are made from corundum. Both are precious stones.
