Usually when you install a new browser, it will import all of your existing favorites/bookmarks, assuming it will be the one you're using.
As for shortcuts on your desktop, those just point to web page addresses- there's nothing in there mentioning any specific program like IE or Firefox or Netscape.
Whatever browser is currently your default will be used to open them when you click on them :)

They are both browsers -- Netscape wants you to keep using theirs instead of IE. I used to use Netscape as isp and IE for a browser until Firefox. Now I am using IE7 with much better results.

Because Microsoft owns Netscape. Basically, it's the same browser.
You should get Firefox, (it's Free), and delete the others.

Netscape, on first run, will import your bookmarks in an effort to get you to use their browser. The idea is, if you don't have to keep using Internet explorer to remember your favorites, then you won't continue using their web browser.
