can you name the worst to the best video card out there and put them by brand please? I need to be updated with which video card is best.

what i meant by worst is the oldest to newest.

Best = nVidia GeForce 8800GTX, soon to be challenged and probably beaten by ATI Radeon X2?00 XTX (name not finalized), simply because it's newer.
Worst = there is no 'worst', because you can always hook up an ancient PCI card from the mid 90's if you want.
The GeForce 8 series and the Radeon X2k series are/will be DirectX 10 compliant. DirectX 10 requires Vista and there aren't any DX10 games out yet. Still the 8800GTX is currently the fastest video card you can buy, by a factor of two.
Edit: Oldest to newest: (starting from an arbitrary point)
GeForce2 > Radeon 7200
GeForce 4 Ti > Radeon 8500
GeForce FX Series < Radeon 9500-9800
GeForce 6 Series > Radeon X800 series
GeForce 7 Series = Radeon X1k series
GeForce 8 Series ? Radeon X2k series
ATI had the performance crown with their X1900XTX and X1950XTX vs nVidia's 7900GTX, but nVidia regained it by launching the GeForce 8800.

NVIDIA cards are the best but you must know the card compatible with yr PC . Cards are avaialble in different AM capacity and cost goes up with more capacity. You go to their site and choose one suitable for yr PC and check price in the market.
