Well, they've been stopping time for quite a while. I can see why production numbers have fallen.

Doesn't look like it. This same topic was brought up in a watch forum that I'm in: http://forums.timezone.com/index.php?t=msg&goto=2340440&rid=45677#msg_2340440. No one there seems to think it is true, either.
