As a guest, you can wear a dress, a skirt and nice top, or a nice pants set. As long as you are respectful of the event, there isn't really a limit on your choices.

Look for fabrics that are more formal- silk, satin, velvet, georgette, chiffon, etc... Stay away from cheap looking ones and you'll look sophisticated.
Look for styles that flow with your body, like A-line or trumpet skirts, or wider legged pants.
Keep your colors festive with things like pastels, jewel tones, and rich colors. Use neutrals (NOT white) as your backdrop only, not the entire outfit.
Add great accessories to any outfit to dress it up even more. A simple skirt can look wonderful with a formal pair of shoes.
Look for separates that you can mix and match, so you get more than one occasion's wear out of them. A plain pair of pants can be dressed up dramatically with a formal top or jacket.

The main key is making sure that at least one piece of your outfit is formal, so that it makes the informal piece(s) look nicer. It also adds balance so that you aren't overdressed, and steal the bride's thunder on her day.

Are you in the wedding? Or going to the wedding as a guest? If you are in the wedding you should wear whatever the bride wants you to. If you are a guest it is not a big deal to wear a nice pair of pants...usually dark...with a nice top or something.

No one always wears dresses at weddings. Something elegant would be like a black or white pant with a dressy top or a skirt with a tank top. You basically just have to wear something formal for a wedding.

Actually, I've seen women wear some very lovely pants outfits at weddings. If it's a day wedding, a suit jacket would do. In the evening, something dressier.

i don't love strapless both. My wedding ceremony gown has straps, yet with my runner up gown i grow to be going to ought to have them added on. i love dresses which have extremely of a strap or possibly a short off the shoulder sleeve or something. including straps or sleeves to a gown is a quite user-friendly alteration. in case you extremely like a gown that takes position to be strapless, you ought to continuously have them positioned on. some people do look solid in strapless dresses, yet i understand what you mean. i have considered some that extremely must have reconsidered. i wager it quite relies upon on the in superb condition of the gown.

To my cousin's wedding - I wore black dress pants, a red shirt and a black blazer with light-up high heels, lol. They were a hit!

To another wedding - I wore jeans, white high heels, a blazer and a white tanktop.

I just went to one and I wore a very pretty black suit with a fancy red cami underneath and red purse and shoes. I got lots of compliments and I was comfortable and warm.
