If Yuroba kids of today can speak it, or Morroccan children can speak Arabic Why can't Igbo parents teach their kids Igbo? It's like the language is dying :(
I can't even speak it myself and I feel very bad. :(

Guess it is not just Igno that the parents are not too willing to teach. Would this has something to do with the white colonizing the country over a long period? it's complex, when a country is colonized, the locals will try their best to adapt to the new ways, indirectly giving the impression to their young that these new ways are superior. Over a long peiod, this became a norm, you realise that the Indians wants to become fairer, like the whites? About 30 years ago, the Far Eastern countries want their young to speak nothing but English. Thank God that these new governments now realise that speaking a foreign language only is not the way to make their citizens feel proud, one has to feel proud of their roots as well.

I don't find this to always be the case. I went to college with an Igbo girl, and she speaks the language fluently.

because most Igbo speak the language of their colonizer. Do you noticed how africans can speak english, french, spanish, portuguese and arabic but can't understand Swahili, Bantu, Khoisian or Xhosa? I KNOW THEY WERE SPEAKING WHATEVER BEFORE WHITES CAME THERE! THEY HAD THEIR LANGUAGES FOR MILLIONS OF YEARS AND NOW THEY ARE JUST GONNA LET 500 YEARS OF WHITE RULE RUIN IT? Sadly, their languages are going extinct because they have a slave mentality. They think white or european is right. Sad, considering how that continent has over 5000 languages, VERY DIVERSE!
