I have a Lexmark Z611. Ive been using cartridge 16 but it also takes 17. The last 16 I got I was refilling but it didnt work the last time so I got a 17. Now I cant get it to print at all. I took the tape off so I know thats not the problem. I tried rebooting. Nothing. What else could be the problem. Please, I am desparate here.

Ok, cleaning it didnt work. NOW what do I do? Should I take the cartridge back and get a 16 again?

I had the same problems with my Lexmark, I switch to HP. Anyhow, try this. Take out the cartridge, and you will see the contacts inside of the plastic carriage were the ink cartridge sits in. Take some house hold bleach on a paper towel, or rubbing alcohol on a paper towel and clean those contacts. Most likely the ink from the refilled old cartridge might have gotten on these contacts. the lexmark 17 is a half-capacity cartridge, and it sounds like the one you bought was empty or clogged right out of the box (yes, it happens all the time).

first thing to try: put the part of the cartridge where the ink is *supposed* to come out in a little bit of hot tap water for maybe a minute. then, dab it off gently with a paper towel and try to print again.

if this does not work, see if you can return this cartridge and get a new one (prefereably the full capacity 16!).

let us know how it goes. hopefully the water trick works for you.

you opt on to uninstall the motive force first (from the upload and eliminate programmes contained in the administration panel), then re-set up the motive force following the unique training - as this can inform you at which element you connect the USB and turn the printer on etc. This take position with our Lexmark. solid success

The real question is are you getting the computer to talk to the printer. If the ink cartidridge is moving like it is trying to print, then the issue is most likely the ink pack, otherwise check your connections.

Check support at http://www.lexmark.com for more things to try.
