Yes.
Gore would not have prevented 9/11, but he would not have ventured into Iraq either. He would have caught Osama Bin Laden in Afghanistan by avoiding the distraction of Iraq.
Gore would have continued the negotiations with North Korea that were started under Clinton, so North Korea would not have nuclear weapons today.
The Senate would have ratified the Kyoto Treaty by now had Gore taken office in 2001. We would be much closer to finding a solution to global warming.
Without the expense of the war in Iraq and Bush's tax-giveaways to the wealthy, the United States government would not have huge deficits to worry about. The economic situtation of the country would be much more solid. There would be less unemployment.
Without Bush's efforts to privatize Social Security, that important social program would be in better shape than it is. At the very least, it would be no worse than it is today.
Seniors would enjoy lower drug prices under Gore than under Bush. Gore would have allowed Medicare officials to negotiate low prices with drug companies.
Tjhe victims of the Katrina hurricane would not have been neglected by Al Gore.
By avoiding the Iraq war, the United States would still enjoy the respect and admiration of the world it once had. We would have more friends and fewer enemies.
Gore would have funded "No Child Left Behind" and it would begin to be a reality.
Gore would not have torn up the Constitution, imprisoned supposed enemies without charge, or spied on American citizens. Everyone would have more freedom than under Bush.
The war in Iraq has increased the terrorist threat. By avoiding this war, Gore would have lowered the threat of terrorism. Resources would have been channeled into more useful programs, and fewer people would hate us.
Again, without the distraction of Iraq, Gore would have been able to devote time and resources to other pressing issues, including HIV/AIDS in Africa, relationships with Latin America, the struggle against increased drug consumption, human rights in Darfur, Third World debt, and immigration (among other things.)
Yes, the United States would be much better today had Al Gore moved into the White House in January, 2001, instead of George Bush.

How can a single person steal a national election? And even after the Democrats in Florida learned how to count, Bush was elected a SECOND time. But no, the country would not be in better shape with Gore. He is just an over-sexed wimp who can't even do Public Displays of Affection very well. I thought for a minute he was trying to eat his wife's face during the famous "kiss." Yuck. Four years of the Gore and Tippy love fest. No one would have survived...

Charles, you provide a fairly good description of what liberals believe, and if we adopted the liberal agenda, as most Western European countries have, we would be better off.
Another thing: 9/11 might not have happened if Gore had been president. When he was warned about Al Qaeda, he would have taken action. Bush apparently ignored the warning.

Oh yes, we would not be warring against a country that is of no threat to us. We might well have gotten Osama by now. I don't think we would see the Constitution usurped at all and the budget surplus left by Clinton would possibly have increased if not stayed about the same. If the dot com bubble did affect it we would not have the trillions in debt we have now. We would likely have some form of health care reform introduced to the neocon Congress who would have done nothing but reject it. He would have proposed alternative energy incentives. I would like to think we would not have had the degree of corruption we have over the last 6 years. Much of that was in Congress so there might have been some but not in the Administration as we have seen in the last 6 years. Oh yes, there would be major differences in the last six years had Bush not stolen the election.

No one really knows how Gore would have responded after the events of 9/11.
I doubt if his policies had been exactly the same as Bush's, the liberals would be spewing out the hatred that's so common now days. They might even be united in our war effort since they wouldn't be so preoccupied with regaining power. I know it's a stretch, but, given this scenario, they might not even be so intent on losing this war - and the media might even be publishing a few of our accomplishments instead of giving all the demented, suicide bombers the headlines.
Who knows?

I just don't get it, Hillary claims that she was tricked by the "dumbest man in the world", Gore claims that he lost the election because the "dumbest man in the world" stole it from him, and yet you people still stand behind them.
It appears to me that the title of dumbest has been given to the wrong person/people if they are so easily tricked and stolen from.

1) Bush did NOT steal the election. EVERY recount in FL showed Bush winning, giving him a majority of the electoral votes.
2) Had Gore won' things would be much much worse. He would not have responded the 9/11. After crawling out from under his desk, He would have refused to do anything without UN permission, giving France, Russia & China veto power over our foreign policy.

Oh man not more of the "Bush stole the election" baloney. After multiple recounts and legal protests from Al Gore's throng of 1000 lawyers who tried to only recount certain precincts (the Liberal ones) and tried to exclude the military vote, Gore lost every time.
Geez, read a book already. We base our system on electoral votes. Under that system, Bush won.
