Why were each of the Fantastic Four and Dr Doom on the space shuttle which gave them each their super powers?

I realize that they were researching cosmic raditation but only Reid Richard has been identified as a scientist and Dr Doom was the financier. What role did the others have on the shuttle? Why were these others on the shuttle in the first place?

in the movie jonny storm was the pilot along with ben grim who was the go to guy. dr doom, reed and sue were all scientist.
in the comic book doom was a roommate of reed richards but didn't get his power for cosmic radiation he wasn't even on the shuttle. victor studied the ocult and made weapons and a battle suite.

OK - to start off with,

THE MOVIE IS WRONG - it didn't follow the comics
(but then few movies do.....)


Reed Richards and Victor Von Doom were college friends, but they drifted apart when Doom was using Reed's ideas and taking credit for them. Doom was NOT with them when they got their powers, they were NOT on a space station, and Doom does NOT have superpowers.

The Fantastic Four were on a test flight spaceship that Reed designed, and their shields were not strong enough - that's how they got their powers.

DOOM was in a lab accident, trying to mix science and magic in an attempt to bring the body and soul of his dead mother back to life. In the resulting explosion, Doom was hideously scarred for life, thus donning the metal mask which he is famous for to this day.

Doom has always been jealous of Reed's intellect, he has had feelings for Sue but did NOT have a relation with her, and has been forever jealous that they have such awesome powers, while he had to work and sweat and bleed for everything he's learned.

Always look into the sources of movies - they never have enough time or money to tell the whole story like it's supposed to be...

if your talking about the movie witch is WRONG, they were all support personnel . but according to the comic book, it was reed, ben johnny and sue who went up it the rocket. Dr. Doom came around later.

according to the movie, They were researching cosmic radiation. This radiation was allegedly the energy that help jumpstart life on Earth. They all thought it had practical application, like cure for diseases.
