A decent paying job for a young lady just out of high school seems to be customer service reps for companies like Sprint, Alltel, Cingular, etc, (the cell phone companies) they usually start out at earning at least 8$ an hour and that's not bad for not having any college. Also, entry-level data entry or help working in an office (i.e. filing, typing, etc) as like an assistant usually pays above average wages.
I also know an 18 year old lady in my neighborhood who is working as a waitress at a high-end restaurant here in town (she has no college) and is making pretty good money at it. She says 70-80 $ a day on just 6 hours of work. It's up to you, it's fairly hard work but if you get hired at a really good restaurant you can make really decent money. Chains and large restaurants love to hire young ladies because they have a lot of energy and are always bubbly and customers love that.

even with a college degree, it's hard to secure a good income! i graduated in 2003 and am only making $29K : ( but i love what i do, and i know eventually make more money. on the other hand, i couldn't have gotten the job w/o a degree.
one career that comes to mind is a real estate agent. you would go to school, but only for a short time--8-12 weeks or something like that, then you would have to join associations and secure a job with a company. i live in ny; the class is about $400, the association dues, about $1000. you can make a lot of money, but you have to work hard, putting your clients before yourself, your family, you social life, etc. since it is a commision based job. but you can make great money if you're in the right area!
oh, also, a pflobotomist (sp??) a person that draws blood on people in hospitals, dr. offices, labs, etc. short schooling, can pay pretty well.

It really depends on your aptitude (what you are naturally good at) and your personal motivation. If you are just starting out in the working world you will have to move from the bottom rung up. Your ability to move up depends on your attitude and your willingness to go above and beyond what is expected of you. Take initiative in any job you get (stay a few minutes late to help clean up or finish stocking the shelves). Get your responsibilities done and then ask for more from your supervisor. Your supervisor will REALLY appreciate your incentive to succeed and give you more work. If you are focused, motivated, and have a good work ethic you can succeed without a degree.
You have to want it to get it!

If you start somewhere while you're still in high school and then work your way up, you could do a lot of things. Entry level positions for people without college include: receptionist, file clerk, garbage collector, construction worker, housekeeper, cook, waiter/waitrss, exotic dancer, personal attendant, ticket clerk, cashier, stocker, courtesy clerk, courier, taxi driver, truck driver, shipping clerk, and a lot more than I have time to list here.

Well, what I did was..because I wasn't one of those kids that mommy and daddy paid for everything while I drank myself through college..my high school had this option of a "career center", I went there for my last two years of high school and I have a job as a CAD drafter for a civil engineering firm. I have my own place while most of my friends still live with their parents. That's what I did.
