Hmm, I think Dubya hasn't given Afghanistan much of a thought since bin Laden couldn't be quickly caught, so he's hoping no one will notice the other war we're spending millions on. Here is something Dubya has said about it:

WASHINGTON POST: Why do you think bin Laden has not been caught?
DUBYA: Because he's hiding.
-- Dubya offers a ludicrous answer to a serious question, interview with Michael A. Fletcher and Jim VandeHei of the Washington Post, aboard Air Force One, Jan. 14, 2005

Because Bush decided to invade Iraq and make that the attention of the media. He came out and said that he no longer considers bin Laden a threat, and therefore, the focus was taken off of Afghanistan and put on Iraq.

It's because things are worse in Iraq. And all the media these days are interested in the worse or the the best. I think Bush made a mistake by sending us to Iraq, but now that we are there, we have a lot of work to before we can leave. Also, the people running for president in 2008 want everyone to see how bad Bush screwed up.

Because Afghanistan was never really considered important. It was just a knee jerk reaction to 9/11 and when the USA failed to get bin Laden they lost interest.
