If Bill Ford made you the President and GM of the Lions, what would you do? How would you fix them?

Well, you actually took the first step. I think step number one is done. The Lions need to get a new GM. While I am a Matt Millen fan, I think they need a change. Step 2, rebuild the offensive and defensive lines. From Pee Wee football up to the pros, you go as far as your o-line and d-line take you. The o-line needs to open some holes and protect the QB, the d-line needs to make the linebackers look like stars. Step 3, rebuild the rest of the defense, then the offense.

Fire Matt Millen. Hire some one more competent as GM. Keep Marinelli, and be very firm about it that...
1)Stick with Kitna if they feel Orlovsky can start and be good. Too many holes to be going out of their way to address QB.
2)Fix the offensive line. It is atrocious and the main reason for the offense's problems.
3)Keep Mike Williams one more year, and see if perhaps his benching has taught him a lesson. He certainly didn't look like a problem celebrating with his teammates on the sideline after they scored a TD on Thanksgiving.
4)Look for an impact TE. Roy Williams and Furrey are a great tandem, so a good pass-catching TE would elevate an already potent passing-attack.
I can't say much more with my lack of knowledge about the Lions...

Get rid of Matt Millen first of all. He may be a good guy and a smart guy, but he has really been responsible for too many bad draft picks.

Brady Quinn is not the answer to the problems because Kitna was one of the only bright spots on the team. They need some linemen on both sides of the ball more than anything.

OK FIRST FIRE MATT MILLEN. NEXT YOU NEED TO SERIOULY REVAMP THE OFFENSIVE LINE, YOU COULD BARELY DRIVE A MOPED THRU THOSE HOLES. THE QB SITUATION IS FINE FOR THE NEXT COUPLE SEASONS SO THE NEXT PICKUP IS EITHER ADRIAN PETERSON IN THE DRAFT OR A SOLID FREE AGENT RB THAT CAN GET YOU 3.5 TO 4.5 YARDS A CARRY. IF YOU DON'T GO WITH THE RB IN THE DRAFT THEN PICK UP RUSSELL FROM LSU I MEAN LOOK AT THE BOY 6'6 260+ AND CAN THROW 75+ YARDS WITYH EASE. I MEAN YEAH QUINN IS AHEAD MENTALLY BECAUSE OF WEISS BUT HE BREAKS UNDER PRESSURE. WITH A SOLID RUNNING GAME KITNA WILL HAVE THE PRESSURE OFF HIM AND HIS RECEIVERS. ROY WILLIAMS AND MIKE WILLIAMS WERENT 1ST ROUNDERS FOR NOTHING YOU KNOW. GET MARCUS POLLARD INVOLED MORE HE KNOWS HOW TO FIND GAPS AND HAS GREAT HANDS HINCE THE YEARS WITH PEYTON MANNING. OK NOW ON TO THE DEFENSE FIRST I WOULD FIND A TRUE PASS RUSHING DE CAUSE THOSE OTHER 2 HAD 3 SACKS COMBINED LAST SEASON. ANTHONY BRYANT HAD 8 BY HIMSELF. WITHOUT THEM PUTTING PRESSURE ON THE OPPOSING QB THAT PUTS A TON OF PRESSURE ON THE DB'S AND ANY GOOD RECEIVER CAN FIND A HOLE IN THE ZONE. DONT CHANGE CB CAUSE DRE BLY IS STILL VERY GOOD. THEY NEED A HARD HITTING SAFETY TO PUT FEAR INTO TO ANYONE COMING OVER THE MIDDLE. BUT MOSTLY THEY NEED A NEW DEFENSIVE SCHEME. THEY ALSO NEED A TRUE VETERAN LEADER ERNIE SIMS IS A SOLID TACKLER. TRASH THE OTHER 2 LBS AND GET A SPEEDY OLB TO HELP RUSH THE QB. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME I HOPE THIS PLEASES YOU.

ummm, well i think after this year we all know the Millen is not going anywhere which is bad for Lions fans but to start i think you have to start with the lines offensive and defensive these are some of the lowest paid players on the field they are cheap and easy to get build up your LB's and get a good defensive back system....................acutally you know what with out life casualties like the above poster said i think this team needs a total makeover but seeing how Millen does things he would ask the Cardinal how to make over a team

Go out annd get a young qb, and not brady quinn. Then work on getting a high quality running back, and start working a younger o-line into the line up.

Everybody who said to upgrade the offensive line is exactly right. A good offensive line can cover a lot of sins from the so-called skill positions.
