Do you have broadband? How about a wireless internet connection? FTP server access? Maybe a DVD burner drive on the new computer?

I see several solutions to this problem, going from easiest to toughest. If you need a more in depth explination on any solution, feel free to e-mail me at Hines dot Brad at Gmail dot com (FYI, I format email this way to avoid spam)

- Buy a cheap external hard drive! You can find them for $90 from Western Digital at best buy that hold 160GB - that should be enough for 32,000+ songs. Install it on the old PC, copy files to drive, then move files to new PC.
- Use an instant message program that can send directories of files at the same time. AOL instant messenger would do this. Install it on both computers, and using the program, initiate a file transfer. Each PC will need to have a different user name and both need to have BROADBAND access to the internet. Again, a slow solution. (~30 secs per song, on broadband)
- Do you have FTP server access? if an FTP server connection exists, upload all the files to the server, then download the files onto your PC. If you have a LOT of MP3 files, this could take awhile, and you might have storage issues.
- Windows Networking - Look up "File and Printer Sharing on a network" in windows help to do this.
- Install you existing hard disk onto the new computer. Set the new computer's hard drive to a master drive, and your existing, older hard drive to a slave drive. Configure the new PC drive to be the bootable drive. When windows boots, copy the files from the old drive to the new one. Turn off the PC's, then disconnect the hold drive and replace it in the old computer.

Why would anyone want to upload their stuff to the internet and then download it on the other computer? That's insane. Especially if we're talking about GB of data.

Look, the easiest way is to take the freegin hard drive from the one computer. Then copy the stuff over onto the new computer's hard drive and then put the hard drive back in the original computer. This might sound complicated but it is extremely easy to do. just look at how the original hard drive is hooked up and hook up the second drive the same way on the second connector on the same cable that goes to the main hard drive
On some hard drives you might have to do set them up as a slave, but that is not hard either. i'm available to help if you send me a message.
This is the same solution as camrylev6's last solution. I think he/she explains it better.

If you don't have a CD or DVD burner, then you can network the two together and do a direct transfer.

Which would be faster/easier? Depends on how much you to transfer. If it is a lot (more than 3 disc's full), then I would think about networking, if less and you can, just burn them.

you could pay for some internet storage space, upload it all, then download it to the other computer. or you could set up a network connection between the two to transfer all the files.

Easiest way: get a gmail account and this:http://www.viksoe.dk/code/gmail.htm It will actually add a drive to your pc that can use all that gmail space reserved for you. I use it for data that is not sensitive.

you could burn the information to a disk, CD, DVD, Blu-Ray, whatever. or there is a product you can use but I think its kind of expensive. you should be able to find it in the tech blogs on the yahoo main page. its pretty far back

You can put all the files in one folder, compress the folder. Upload it on www.sendspace.com, or a site where you can upload bigger files. Then email that link to yourself, and just download it. :)
