i`m sorta emo, like i don`t dress like it or have the hair, but i`m "depressed" and all. well, people have been confusing me at school. there`s two groups of "emos" at my school;
ones that wear dark clothes, skulls, a lot of black...sorta like goth
and then there`s the other group that wear like bows, cartoon shirts, those checkered vans, band tees and shirts with little images reapting all over.
i just wana know which is emo and which is not....or if they are both emo, just different types.

Please try to remove yourself from this confusion NOW.

It is a query that will never be solved, and you will forever wonder.

I consider myself 'goth' and dress that way often, but I have the misfortune to be classed as 'emo' occasionally and I still don't know what that is! Goth is an older style, and even though it can get complicated with all of the different types of goths, I have it rather fixed in my head what I consider goth to be.

But 'emo' just completely baffles me. And I've been trying to figure out what it is, on a private internet research quest for several months now. And there are so many definitions/opinions on it, there's no way to really make any real sense of the thing. (Yes, I'm a rather long-winded goth...I have a bit of Victorian in my veins).

But, don't bother stressing over this. It's pointless. Wear the clothes you like and if you're strong enough...try to avoid categorizing yourself at all. It's just a confinement people put on themselves/others. You really don't need to know. I hope in ten years, the word 'emo' dies.

they both are..although..depending still on how extreme the first group looks, they might be more goth.

but lets not always catorgorize them.

i mean. i lvoe the second groups style. and sometimes wear it in mine. but i am not 'emo'.

anyone is a cutter. you dont have to be 'emo style' to be a cutter. i know the preppy/skaters do it too.

and yeah..the second might be scene, more than emo. so lets say number one emo, number two scene.

they all have friends.

but the goths hang out more by them selves. they are the ones i just htink are werid. but they dont scare me.
