That is why I would never in my natural born life live in California. Oh ya, don't smoke in the car with kids. But those idiots allow gay marriages. Why a sad state.

“No smoking bans” are definitely liberal. The basic premise of a liberal mind set is to have the government “protect and take care of me”. Liberals want to limit individual choices because they know what is best for me. I don’t smoke and if I don’t want to be a place that is smoky then I leave. It is that simple. In a free society shouldn’t I have a choice? So on the “Smoking ban” issue I am Pro Choice. Think about that. As a side note I do feel that in government buildings there should be no smoking only because I don’t have a choice. So guess my above statement is directed at privately owned businesses

smoking bans are liberal because they damage the conservative support basis which is the tobacco industry. We should not ban cigarettes or smoking because people die sooner and then we pay less social security thats a conservative issue. Liberals always want to spend money on the elderly and stuff like that.

It's a liberal thing.

Conservatives love big business. Without the bans, cigarette companies wouldn't be in financial ruin. Tobacco farmers wouldn't face foreclosure. Scratch that, they get subsidies from Republicans, funded by the cigarette lobby. Hospitals and pharmas wouldn't be facing mergers and acquisitions. Bars would keep their smoking clientele. Firemen would have more fire to put out, so on and on. All these benefits with lower taxes. Aren't conservatives great...NOT!!!!

I smoke cigars. smoking makes cancer = cancer is scary. conservative policy generally fears what were normal acts and believe in terror plans everywhere. liberals generally believe in people should 'live and let live'. This pisses off conservatives lots. They have ran most of the state and federal agencies for 15 years. conservatives governments are responsible for what you today complain about. If you look in the mirror and see a 'control freak' you might be a conservative.

How is it liberal to take away someone rights. Now I dont believe you should smoke it the car with your kids. But banning smoking in public and parking lots is going to far. In and near buildings I understand. They are liberal when it comes to gay marriage.

Quit smoking since 1990.

It's actually a hybrid.

The liberals want to expand the nanny state.
The social conservatives want to impose their morals.

On the smoking issue, liberals and social conservatives are basically on the same side, against social libertarians.

Actually you would never live in California because you have bad taste, aren't smart enough to get a job that would pay you enough to live here, you prefer to live some where that the best restaurant in town is Mc Donald's, drive around with a bunch of fat, illiterate hicks on the road. Keep smoking and die trash.
