I play basketball on my middle school team. Whenever I get into the game, I am extremely scared to screw up. I am an extremely good player but I just cant seem to do what I usually do. As soon as I get the ball I have to pass to ensure I dont make a mistake. I read this quote softly to myself at games before I go in :
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same."
And It doesnt work. PLEASE HELLP

One of your other questions said you were a junior in high school, now you're in middle school, whats up? you also said your name is Jamil Goodwin and you were good enough to go D1, now you can't even get a shot off because you're too scared? Is this Me, Myself and Irene?

I actually play basketball too, and I had the same problem. I'm very good. Everyone even tells me I'm good, but when I get in the game I don't want to mess up or want the team to be mad at me.

for the past couple games I've just been loose and not really caring or thinking about what people think I just did me...since then i probably been averaging a little over ten a game, so try not to worry so much a play.

Hope I helped

It's no biggie if you mess up, everyone messes up. Once you get the ball, take a shot. You're really good, you said so yourself. But if you don't shoot you will never accomplish anything.

you have to block it out of your mind completly. which is easier said then done since during the process of trying not to think about your fear, you are thinking about it.

as long as you accept you fear you will always have it, tell yourself you dont have that fear.
