those are absolutely signs that your period is coming. I've always gotten killer headaches on the middle day between periods; the first heavy day and sometimes on the last day of my period. Stupid me never kept track of my periods and connected the dots and so I never realized the headaches were related to periods. Anyway, now that I know, I've found that taking a NSAID medicines (ibubrofen, tylenol, aspirin..,) BEFORE the headache starts in, totally helps. Other symptoms of PMS are moodiness, lots of crying or getting aggravated or depressed, wanting to eat too much, etc. It really helps to keep track on a calendar of these weird symptoms so that when they happen, you won;t BELIEVE that your life sucks or that you have the Worst parents and nobody likes you and that you are the UGLIEST....etc instead you'll know that it's just those lying hormones. (hey, look on the bright side, in 50 years you'll be all finished with periods!)

Oh, and don't believe some of those other posts. It does NOT get worse as you get older. Why they would try to freak you out I don't know. I'm ancient (43) and it's easy as could be as long as i keep in mind that the moods are illusions and take those tylenol early enough. Midol never worked for me as another post suggested - it always made me feel sicker.

Welcome to womanhood sweetheart. Backaches, headaches, migraines, bloating, irritability, fatigue, sweats, crankiness, being hyper sensitive (crying on a dime)....someday you'll be pregnant (but not too soon!) and then you'll have to deal with more backaches, headaches (which don't go away until well after they move out and have their own family!), migraines, weightgain, fatigue, sweats, crankiness, being hypersensitive...oh yeah...don't forget stretch marks. Then menopause- its pretty much down hill for you from here. See if your Mom/Dad will buy you Midol. Teen Midol is good and it doesn' t contain caffeine. Lay your back on a heating pad and put a cold wash cloth over your eyes. I'm sorry for you. I remember being 12 but I can tell you that ovulating and PMSing isn't as bad at 29 as it was back then. I guess your body gets used to it.

could be growing pains and/or menstrual

The only thing I get is cranky, the kind that would rip the head off of a child when they talk too much in the theater, but then a piece of chocolate soothes me and I'm fine :)

If you have a woman close to you, you should talk with her.

yup. thats only the beginning. i suffer from severe pms and its actually very disrupting. but certain foods can aggravate it. stay away from salt!!! avoid foods that will make you crash. drink alot of water. stay away from soda. itll only get worse as you get older. try to exercise. it helps relieve tension and irratability. they werent kidding when they call it the curse.
