It's not a good trick,They are on the verge of death,separate it from the tank, if you more fishes, as some fishes have the habit of plucking at it's tails and fins

i had a upside down cat fish that use to swim up side down and then turn right side up.. if goldie is a gold fish.. he is more than likely dead.. gold fish dont do that

if your fish is still alive & floating on its side u have a sick fish on your hands & it has a bloated liver he will eventually die as there is no point taking a fish to the vet.
