i want to hook up another hard drive in my computer, i have 2 in there already and there isnt a way to connect a 3 rd one, so i was wondering are there any cables that split the hookups into more then 2 places to hook up a hard drive?

You should have two eide plugs on your motherboard -- each will facilitate two devices (4 total) possibly you have two more -- one for floppy and another for sata. If both your eide cables are full -- that would be 4 drives (two hdd and two dvd/cd drives) you are maxed out on that board. Maybe better to buy a new 750gb and copy everything onto one drive if your operating system is up to date (old versions of Windows can't handle more than 200gb). Each eide cable can only support two devices -- can't add a third.

Your best bet is to install a PCI interface, (if you have an available slot). Most have two connectors and with those you can hook up up to 4 drives. If that is not an option you might have to hook up an external drive to a USB port, It will be much slower though. I wouldn't even consider that though unless you have USB 2.0 or a 1EEE 1394 Firewire port available.

I would go with the external hard drive option. a 160G drive would run about $80. it hooks up using the usb port. just as long as your operating system is installed on an internal and not this new drive you should have smooth sailing.

You can actually put a total of 4 hard drives in your computer, but you must sacrifice your CD drives to do it. Each set is a Master/slave string.
