If your high school has a counselor, meet with him or her and state your goal. Most schools have 'College Prep" courses that are mandatory. Whiz through them, go heavy on math, chemistry, all sciences, latin if it's offered, (or other foreign language), as well as English & public speaking. If you can get through the mandated high school classes early then seek permission to attend your local college to get a head start on the required pre-med classes.

It's true your high school transcript won't matter much when you apply to medical schools, but the earlier you can start developing those skills, the easier it will be for you to do well in the right courses when you reach college.
As another answerer said, you can major in music or political science in college and still get into medical school if you have the aptitude. In fact, my cardiologist is a fantastic concert pianist with a degree in music. There are lots of music majors in the sciences.
But it certainly won't hurt you to take the College Prep track, and take all the courses in biology, chemistry, physics, and math you can squeeze in. And be sure to make good grades.

It doesn't matter what you take in high school. What matters is that you fulfill the pre-requisites for med school while you are in college/university. A friend of mine was a Music major and qualified for medical school; she did all the pre-requisites for med school, passed MCATs in addition, she graduated with a Music Bachelor's degree.
In order to have a good background, you should take lotsa chem classes and bio. classes.

Depending on what is offered at your school; take math, biology, chemistry, anatomy, etc. These are good background subjects for nursing students and I'm sure for the physician also.
