Do his eyes itch? Also, if it were pink eye, you'd probably have it by now. I'd check with his doctor to make sure.

Hi! My 6 week old is doing the same thing. My suggestion would be to pull up a picture of what pink eye looks like. You would know right away if that is what your son has. Otherwise, it could be one of two things like the others have said. A) it could be a blocked tear duct-my son has this currently in one eye OR B) it could be a cold symptom (which my son has in the other eye...lol) it is possible to have both things at once. Depending on the age of your son you might want to get him checked. (By the way...blocked tear ducts can last for a few months my doctor said.) I hope he feels better soon!

Usually with a cold they aren't welded shut. When they become glued shut it's a sign of pink eye. It's best to call your doctor so they can have a look. It's really the only way to tell for sure.
You'll have to wash everything in hot water. Keep purelling your hands. Discard ALL towels and go for paper ones. Pink eye is extremely contagious!! Strip all beds and blankets in the am and wash in HOT water. I'd do it after naps with your son too. You don't become immune you just end up passing it back and forth for weeks.

You need to go to the pediatrician and get a swab done, they will tell you if you need eye drops or cream or if it will go away on it's own. I asked the same question on here about 3 weeks ago and was told it was probably a cold, so I just kept cleaning it, but when we went for her checkup they swabbed and found bacteria, so I've got to do eyedrops for a few days. It's not that big a deal, as it doesn't bother them unless they can't open their eyes. And my daughter's eyes didn't get pink either, but it's the same medicine used to treat pinkeye. Good luck!

I'd say, take him to the doctor and find out. It sounds like pink eye. Never seen slimey green boogers from just a cold.

conjunctivitis. there are a few different types of conjunctivitis, each need different treatment so call your child's doctor. children often get colds and conjunctivitis at the same time, but it still needs to be checked out. the presences of green goop leads me to believe it's bacterial and needs antibiotics. (ps-any green discharge from the nose or eye should be checked out by a doctor for that reason)

I took my 8 week old son to the doctor for this, and he said is was a clogged tear duct, very common in babies. Your pedi can perscribe a medication if it is very bad, but usually it clears up on its own and is not painful for the baby. You can also massage in inner eye right under the tear duct which helps to unblock it. But I would see your pedi just in case.

it sounds like a blocked eye duct possibly. my older daughter had that. try a warm washcloth in the corner of her eye. make sure u dont reinfect. use a separate corner for each eye.u basically just massage gently the inner part of her eye. call your dr. too because i thought my second daughter had it also and it was conjectivitis. good luck.

Most likely it is conjunctivitis. Get the doctor to give you antibiotic eye drops and it will clear right up.
