2. honda
3. nissan

Toyota always comes out on top. They have had the best selling car in America (camry) because this is a major selling point.
Honda and Nissan are very good as well but perhaps just a little behind Toyota.

There was a recent newspaper article about this very subject. Car manufacturers are tending to eliminate basic no-frills models for a variety of reasons: 1) few people want them, 2) they make more money on the frills, and 3) it reduces the number of models, which saves money. It's difficult, for example, to find a car with manual window knobs, or manual door locks, or without radio or air conditioning.

Toyota reliability is partially myth. Honda is the most trouble-free overall, Lexus, the Infiniti, Toyota. Most Subarus, Mazdas and Nissans are bulletproof, but a few are dogs, moving them down.

Three companies come out on top. Toyota, Honda and Subaru. Don't believe me, look at Consumer Reports. Hands down these three are the best.

I'd have to say Honda is the most reliable, then Toyota or Subaru.
