But, the truth is if you don't explain it employers will not even call you for an interview because they will assume you were injured at your last job or even speculate that you may have been in jail. A lot of employer will assume you milked the system by not finding another job right away (assuming you did get unemployment or severance).
If you did any side jobs, took any classes, or watched others children explain it on your cover letter along with staying home with your children.
It's hard for women to get back to work, but stay-at-home dads are even less accepted.

The best way to avoid "making it seem like a negative" is to put it out there as a positive. Giving children an at-home parent is a great job and such an important one. I wouldn't try to 'hide' it. Be upfront and proud of your accomplishment at home-schooling (pre-schooling) and caring for your children. If you did anything else like learing a language, taking classes or writing a book about the experience, volunteer work or home business endeavors be sure to include that as well.

You can put on your resume that you were a stay-at-home dad. You were a household manager, cook, chauffeur, cleaner. These ARE marketable skills.

Don't go back to work you should home school your kids (if they want) it will have a postitive influence on them in the future.
