Yes and the reason I think is because they are never in the kitchen so they never see me sweat. I act cool when I feed them, something along the lines of, "Oh, you like it? It's not that difficult...really."
Do they need to know that I looked up the recipe 10 times on the Internet to get it right, then looked at my old recipes to get it right, then ran out to the store because I forgot that special ingredient that turns a normal meal into a great meal, then called my Mom when I couldn't remember...
Hey, its easy to impress folks with your cooking as long asa you're willing to "do the work."
There was a time when I couldn't cook a lick, that changed when the people I care about started raving over the meals I produced. I liked hearing the compliments so much until I decided to get really good at the art - yup, its an art. Now, I enjoy my own cooking, that's when you know you've done good. When you can enjoy your own culinary skills, you've done well.
Goal? - good cooking.
Method - Keep trying.
Creativity and cooking go hand in hand also. Make it fun!

yes, my family and my boyfriend, because I like to find cool recipes online or I go to the bookstore and bring my little notebook and sit there and write some down-cheaper than buying the book :)

I just like to see the smiles when they taste what I made :)

I make sure not to cook anyting REALLY REALLY good too often, because then it become the norm and not so special.
