I value the tens and thousands of nameless martyrs who had given their lives for the freedom of this Country, at the command of the Leaders. But they or their families never claimed or enjoyed benefits like the present day Netas.

Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose taught the Indians to fight against dominance. Really fight. Not just protest. He wanted freedom and quickly, for India. So he formed an army that he maintained in the jungles of Burma / Myanmar, then, a part of India. He was not happy with the passive non-violence movement of the leaders. The British had promised to leave India if India helped the British to fight against the Triple Axis in the IInd World War. So Indian leaders wanted to co-operate with the British and get freedom peacefully. But Netaji collaborated with Japan to help him fight the British army. Japan was a part of the Hitler - Mussolini group, forming the 3rd Axis. Nehru and others were of opinion that if India did as Netaji said, India would be part of the losing side. So the British banned the Army SC Bose formed. Bose believed that Mahatma Gandhi's tactics of non-violence would never be sufficient to secure India's independence, and advocated violent resistance. He established a separate political party, the All India Forward Bloc and continued to call for the full and immediate independence of India from British rule. He was imprisoned by the British authorities eleven times. Bose advocated complete freedom for India at the earliest, whereas the Congress Committee wanted it in phases, through a Dominion status. Other younger leaders including Jawaharlal Nehru supported Bose and finally at the historic Lahore Congress convention, the Congress had to adopt Poorna Swaraj (complete freedom) as its motto. He was imprisoned and expelled from India. But defying the ban, he came back to India and was imprisoned again. He fled India and reached Tokyo in May 1943. later formed the the INA in Burma as mentioed. His death has been a mystery. Talk of him and one cannot but link him with Bankim Chandra Chatterjee's Bande Mataram.
