I can answer this very simply. I was a youth 20 years ago, as you can see, I turned out fine. ha ha
Parents were better parents in my day. They had better priorities that put the family first, not financial gain.
Youth today are spoiled rotten because their mums and dads are too busy working to look after them. It's a more materialistic world we live in. Parents buy their children crap instead of spending time with them. Or they put them in front of the telly or a play station. Then they wonder why their kiddies are failing at school and become juvenile delinquents.
And is anyone happier for all the stuff that they have today?
No

The only way I can tell the difference between hiccups and kicks is how long they last. At first for the first 30 seconds hiccups feel just like kicks so I'll just assume the baby is moving, but then I'll notice a pattern and if I can predict when the next little bump is I know she's hiccuping. Just like when you can tell the pattern of your hiccups, your baby's hiccups will be bump pause bump pause.. ect.

Today's children and teens spend more time indoors and watching television. They spend hours a week using home computers—a category of time-use that didn't exist in the early '80s.
But contemporary kids spend much less time outside and engaging in organised sports.
More children today have health issues related to lifestyle, such as obesity and diabetes.
There are also seems to be an increase in eating disorders, particularly amoung girls.
Then there is the increase in sexual activity, std's and the highest teen prenancy rate in history. Even though access to birth control is much easier today then it was 20 years ago.
The biggest difference between adolescents now and adolescents 20 years ago is increased violence, crime and lack of respect for authority.
The causes of of which are hard to pin point. Some blame it on the fact that more mothers work and children are left to look after themselves at home alone for long periods of time. Others say the lack of family values, and religion have caused the breakdown of the family, which of course effect children. More marriages end in divorce today than 20 years ago and the consequences of that on children may explain some of the problems children of today have.

I believe the youth 20 years ago had more respect for their parents, their teachers and authority in general. Probably the reason being, that they were allowed to chastise those young people without being in the wrong themselves.

Kids today are a total waste of space. The problems start early, with parents allowing their children to sit in front of a playstation for hours on end, leading to lack of integration skills. This in turn, leads to loads of spotty, obese, non intellectual teenagers, sitting around with no chance of any progressive conversation, using crack, smack and hash to somehow try and give themselves some meaning. The drugs lead to theiving and violence, and lack of respect for any elders, or form of authority. WASTERS

I was a youth 20 years ago, a load us used to ride our motorbikes to different places every weekend, go camping when we got there, organise our own boozeups, etc..
younguns today seem to want to wait for someone to organise their entertainment for them & if that doesn't happen they hang around street corners instead.
a dull lot generally.
