I think its because his friends are into it, he wont get into any music I like Ive tried. What do I do to prevent him from getting into that terrible form of music if you can even call it music?

First of all i don't understand why you are trying to control him and what he listens to!! just because you like it doesn't mean that he will!!!
Secondly Rap is a musical art form!! i find it very ignorant and degrading of you to refer to it as anything less!!!! It is just as much art form than country, classical, indie, jazz and gospel music!!!!
Now if you don't agree with the message that Rap delivers then that is your choice but don't ever refer to it as being a "terrible form"!!!
We all have our own opinions thats what makes us different!! So if that is what your brother wants to listen to then it is what it is and theres nothing that you can do about!!!

Find out the words of the artist from the records or tapes he is listening to. Go to www.getlyrics.com and become informed by looking up the lyrics. And why decide for a brother? Are you his guardian?

im not a big fan for rap either but the old school ones are good they actually have a meaning about real life but no, its all about "ay-es-es" and thats not cool. but your brother listens to what he wants you just got to wait until he realizes he's listening to something meaningleass[unless its old school].

I understand where you're coming from, but you have to let your brother be whoever he wants to be, and express himself how ever he wants to. You could try asking him what a certain song means, or what the lyrics are, to see if he is truly listening to it.

Rap isn't that bad itself, its just the lyrics. It is his choice, but if you really want to get him to stop listening to it, you could try to get him to listen to some guyz pop. My brother's really into it....
example: Push it to the Limit/ Corbin Bleu

i used to like that music. but now i don't know why i even liked it in the first place. now all i listen to is country songs. i love jesus take the wheel, don't forget to remember me and the lips of an angel, the little girl. i hope he doesn't like that music forever.

Why can't your brother listen to what he wants? Are you also going to make him dress like you? Just because you don't like it doesn't mean he can't listen to it.....Get over it and accept your brother for who he is!!

Lock him in a room and play The Ramones at top volume...don't let him out until he says "Gabba Gabba Hey" repeatedly!!! I did that with my daughters & they only listen to White Rock & Roll!!
