If Uhaul claims that you owe them money, and you disagree, what can they do ... besides "send it to collections"? Can they call the police and have you arrested for "theft of services"?

If Uhaul claims that you owe them money, and you disagree, what can they do ... besides "send it to collections"? Can they call the police and have you arrested for "theft of services"? This is what the manager of the particular location that I rented from threatened to do? (They do not have my credit card number. I gave them a $100 cash deposit. Needless to say, they won't be giving any of that back to me.)

no they won't call the police, but they will send your outstanding balance to the collections dept. If you fail to pay it back, your credit will suffer. If they messed up and you don't owe, call and complain. If you owe...pay.

first you need to be sure they don't have your credit card on file. second, if they do they will charge your card. Depending on the amount they say you owe them they may put you on their no rent board or take you to court. Now if you damaged their equipment buddy, you are screwed they will have you in court shortly to recoup the money it cost to repair the equipment. I just hope if this is the case you didn't turn the insurance down.
