Right at 100 miles. It's I-35 all the way, so it goes pretty fast ,if you avoid rush hour.

I commute from Temple to Austin every day. It takes me an hour to get to the heart of Austin for work; if there's traffic (which is always) it takes an hour and a half (with the new tollroad 45).

So, if you're thinking about driving from Waco to Austin regularly, plan on 1 1/2 hours to Round Rock, 2 hours to most places in Austin, and 2 1/2 hours to some far south areas during traffic.

If you're just wanting to hang out on Sixth Street for a good time, figure 1:45 unless you drive like a maniac!

Waco is on Interstate 35 halfway between Austin and Dallas... about a 2 hour drive from Austin.

depending on which part of austin you are heading to and of course traffic along I-35, it should take no more than 2 hours. when i drove between austin and fort worth while i attended UT, waco was the halfway point for me. it was about an hour and a half from waco to the northwest side of austin. if traffic is fine, it is a pretty smooth drive.

Austin is about an hour and a half drive south of Waco, straight down IH 35

101 miles. But it really depends on where in Austin you are starting from or trying to get to. It would take at least 90 minutes to get there.

The others answered the "far" question when it comes to driving. When it comes to politics and culture, it's nearly 180 degrees apart.

It isn't far but traffic will make it seem far.
